New France Old England

New France Old England colourfully brings the 18th Century alive, recreating life in Colonial North America during the seven years war.  During 1754 and 1755, Britain suffered its worst military defeat in its history, as three great nations clashed in North America.  Britain wished to expand its colonies; France wished to connect theirs; and Native people wished merely to survive.

Visit and talk to Native people, civilians and the Military units.  Take part in the odd cricket match and other games, as well as drilling the units.  Camping and cooking are all part of camp life.  Each day there will be a full drill display involving all the units, with firing displays, and demonstrations on tactics employed during the period, with the day finishing with a skirmish.

Children are encouraged to “join” the militia, and they can have a go with “dummy” muskets.

A must for history enthusiasts, and a bit of fun for everyone.  The activities are included in your admission price.  Free parking in our field.
