PRESS RELEASE FROM EHDC

Eco-town update: Come and quiz the council

Residents in Whitehill and Bordon have a unique opportunity to quiz the council about plans for an Eco-town this week.

The Leader and the Chief Executive of EHDC will be available to answer any questions at the public meeting on Thursday evening.

As well as a question and answer session there will be an opportunity for residents to learn more about what the town’s regeneration could mean for them.

The meeting will be held at the Forest Community Centre on Thursday 24th July from 7-8.30pm .

If the town becomes an Eco-town then it will benefit from support grants and an international status that will attract investment and new jobs which will benefit the town as well as the whole district.

Will Godfrey, EHDC’s Chief Executive, said: “Residents of Whitehill and Bordon have told us they need better facilities, a better infrastructure and a better environment to live in.

“By securing Eco-town status we will be able to provide all these things. This is a unique opportunity to breathe life into the town.

“I urge residents to come to this meeting so they can hear for themselves what we are hoping to achieve.

“We also want the community to come and tell us what they want from their town as well as any concerns they might have.

“There have been rumours flying around about the proposed Eco-town and we’d like to set the record straight.

“Whitehill and Bordon becoming an Eco-town is an exciting prospect and we want the community to work with us in shaping its future.”

Last week the council reassured residents that new houses for the Eco-town will not be built in the Hogmoor Inclosure, Eveley Wood, the Deadwater and Wey Valleys and the Hampshire County Council farmland around Standford.
